Bullying at work can cause more psychological symptoms than anyone would want to put up with. If an employee has an emotional and physical breakdown due to the stress of being bullied, this is a psychiatric injury. Your nerves simply cannot cope with anymore. Many medically-diagnosed mental illnesses are the breakdown that can happen if the cause of the psychiatric injury is not stopped.
Workplace bullying has serious consequences. The most important thing to remember is that you are not imprisoned within this situation. Psychiatric injury, stress – treating them amounts to the same – locate the cause, recognise the damage it is doing to you, and either limit that damage or eliminate it completely. You can do this with the help of your GP, a senior manager at work, the Citizens Advice Bureau to name just a few sources of support. You are not stuck or isolated.
