Profile on your CV
Lots of people give this section different names but our choice would be Executive Summary, and we prefer to see this section written as 5 bullet points. Choose round black dots as your bullet points but make sure that the bullets are dragged across to the left hand side and the first of these bullet points should really spell out to the reader exactly what it is that you do. For example you may be “A highly strategic and results driven Sales Director” which has a far better impact than if you say that you are hard working, reliable and trustworthy. This first bullet point should be no more than 3 lines long and should also highlight your main strengths, so in the case of our Sales Director we may go onto say that they are strong at developing new and existing business with major corporate clients, building strong working relationships with key customers, and negotiating contracts at senior level.

The First 10 Seconds of Your CV

There are so many opinions these days about Professional CV Writing and I have to say that some of this advice is very poor which is not doing job seekers any good at all. You really only have a short time to impress the reader and it’s always best if you can do this in the first 10 seconds. It is therefore vital that you record plenty of skills in your opening profile followed by a Key Achievements section which is full of measurables.
Start with your name at the top of the page usually in Bold and also in a larger font size, preferably size 18 if you are using size 11 for the body of the CV. Then you can include your Mobile number underneath, followed by your email address below. It is not necessary to include your Home Address on your CV as recruiters in particular will take it off anyway.
