Next Steps

Once you've created your user account and completed the email verification process, you're a few short steps away from having your candidate presence on Social-Hire.com established.

We walk you through these steps below. But before proceeding to do that, do take a moment to help others in your network by alerting them to Social-Hire. One of the most important aspects of using social networking to find a job is to go out of your way to help others - so that they in turn want to help you. Alert your network to Social-Hire using the buttons below and then proceed on to complete the short steps below:

LinkedIn Alert Your Network Invite Google Plus Contacts Invite Twitter Friends Facebook Friends Invitation

Step 1 - Write your Candidate Profile (Show Full Description)

The first information anyone will see about you is the information you provide in your profile. Use this space to make yourself appealing to recruiters, without saying so much that your anonymity is compromised (if you are job hunting in stealth mode!).

Edit Your Profile on Social-Hire.com

Modify your profile by going to the top right of your screen and clicking on "Edit Profile". Any revisions you make will take immediate effect. In "Account Settings" you can also change your "Full Name" to be anything you like and this (rather than your username) is how you will then appear to recruiters. You could use this to highlight your credentials (eg. set full name to "MBA Strategy Manager in New York" or "Programme Manager in Sydney")

** Do not proceed to the next steps without completing Step 1 ** as from hereon you will be triggering recruiters being able to find your profile and follow you if they are able to help. It is therefore essential that they find a profile that is professional and that provides enough information to allow them to determine whether you're of interest to them or not.

Step 2 - Signal Your Career Interests

Make it easy for relevant recruiters to find you by joining career interest groups and / or asking career-related questions within the forums of the career interest groups. See the Career Interests page.

Step 3 - Search For Recruiters

You can search our member profiles to pinpoint the recruiters most able to assist in your career move. This will help you to follow the recruiters most relevant to you. Try it on the Recruiter Search page.

Step 4 - Follow Recruiters Of Interest

As you're browsing the site and discover recruiters who hire in your area, you may click to follow those of interest. Each time you return to the site the "My Updates" section will contain alerts of new jobs and content contributions from just those people you've chosen to follow - meaning you can tailor the site to deliver content based on your own personal career aspirations.

Step 5 - [Optional] Add Your CV / Resume (Show Full Description)

As a candidate you can add a full-length CV / Resume to your profile. This will be publicly available to anyone using the Social-Hire site, so we recommend you keep it anonymous and do not disclose your full address or contact details (to prevent ID fraud). To add your CV / Resume click on "new blog post" and submit your entry to "CV / Resume".

Step 6 - Search Job Postings

Take a few moments to search the latest job postings from around the world. You'll find an unbelievable selection of openings with many of the world's leading companies and most desirable employers.

Also keep in mind the "My Updates" areas will contain alerts of all the latest jobs posted by those recruiters you are following, so one aim should be to find and follow recruiters active in your area - and to help them to find and follow you.

Step 1 - Write your Candidate Profile (Show Concise Description)

The first information anyone will see about you when they click your username anywhere on the site is the information you provide in your profile. Add details that will quickly allow recruiters to determine whether or not they can help you. In which locations would you be interested in working; what type of work do you do; what kind of role are you looking for; what are your salary expectations; what university / business school did you attend; who do you currently work for (either naming your company or providing a description of them like "leading global telecoms company)?

To do this click on "new blog post" and submit your entry to "CV / Resume". Candidates wishing to disclose their identity can choose to submit videos here too so that a statement of your career aspirations and USPs can be left for recruiters to review.
